Poland to support democratic Belarus during its EU Council Presidency

The Representative for the Transit of Power of the United Transitional Cabinet, Pavel Latushka, and his deputy, head of the “Personnel Reserve” campaign, Yury Hubarevich, met with Poland’s Minister for European Affairs, Adam Szłapka.

One of the key topics of the meeting was Poland’s upcoming presidency of the European Union, which will begin on 1 January 2025.

Pavel Latushka stated:
“We received assurances that the programme to be adopted during Poland’s EU presidency will include support for civil society and democratic forces of Belarus.”

During the meeting, Minister Adam Szłapka highlighted the importance of:

▪️ opening border crossings between Belarus and Poland to ensure better communication for Belarusians and Poles;
▪️ expanding educational programmes and internships for Belarusians in the European Union;
▪️ harmonising sanctions between Russia and the Lukashenko regime to counter their aggression against Ukraine;
▪️ bringing Lukashenko and his accomplices to justice for international crimes.

The Minister for European Affairs of Poland was also informed about the activities of the “Personnel Reserve for New Belarus” campaign and the elections to the Coordination Council.
