Conference on Reform of Local Self-Government

On December 1, a conference titled “A Comprehensive Approach to Reforming Local Self-Government in Belarus” took place in Warsaw.

At this important meeting, experts and representatives of Belarusian democratic forces discussed a range of fundamental issues related to the future of local self-government in the country.

The conference addressed several key topics concerning the reform of local self-government. Participants examined new approaches outlined in the reform concept and reviewed international experience that could be adopted and applied in the Belarusian context. The discussion also focused on the initial steps for implementing reforms, the essential changes required in the law on local self-government, and how to ensure real, functioning local democracy.

The conference became an important step toward improving the system of local self-government in Belarus. It is hoped that the ideas and recommendations discussed at the event will be put into practice and contribute to strengthening local democracy and the development of self-governance in the country.
